Chapter Twenty

TRU

Time feels like it has no meaning. The hot water soothing my worn muscles combined with the man across from me still massaging my calves and feet is like stepping into some alternate reality where I can be out and into a guy.

“That’s why you’re hesitant about opening up to me? Because you’re still hurt?”

“I’m not hurt anymore. I’ve made a certain peace with what happened, but I intend to learn from my mistakes. Sometimes…” His words trail off as he runs his hands over my skin. “If I’m honest, Tru, there is a part of me that desperately wants to spill all my secrets to you. Unfortunately, self-preservation prevents it.”

“So you think I won’t accept you. You think you could be something I would judge? I already know what you do for work and I’m fine. What else could there be?”

Midnight scoffs. “I wish it were that simple.” Sitting up slightly, he reaches for my hand. “Get to know me more. Really pay attention. If you decide you want to pursue something with me, something real, then I promise I’ll tell you everything about me.”

“Shouldn’t that be the other way around?” I ask. “It’s not really fair to get me hooked and then drop a bomb on me, is it?”

His face goes blank for a second. “I never looked at it that way.”

Leaning forward, I close the space between us, climbing onto Midnight’s lap. His hands move down my back to my ass, squeezing gently as he fixes his gaze on me. “I want to know all your secrets.”

I press my lips to his, sinking against his body as he wraps his arms tightly around me. As usual, the tingles start up again as soon as he opens his mouth to me.

“Tru,” he whispers, rubbing his thick cock against mine.
